Fit Life Foundation's Intern Work Institute (IWI) is dedicated to providing real life hands-on career readiness opportunities that meet our and other employers demand for a workforce pool able to deliver 21st century job performance and productivity.
Training: Training is hands and on-going throughout the intern work institute experience. Training may include introductions to key project management and planning, administration support, professional leadership, research & development skills, and team roles.
Evaluation(s): Interns are presented monthly and quarterly evaluations. Individual evaluations, and if appropriate team evaluations. Interns will also evaluate the Intern Work Institute Series, their mentor(s), and other Fit Life team consultants they interact with during their exit interview.
Mentorship & Career Planning: A valuable component of Fit Life intern experience is the professional relationship building with his/her mentor. It is the goal of the mentor to positively influence the interns’ career planning/goals, and help he or she identify potential employment leads, career paths, niche, educational aspirations, and realize skill proficiency related to the interns’ career objective(s).
Internship Time Line: The internship period is 3-6 weeks with project-specific task, goals, deliverables and outcomes, Some Internships are paid with a stipend or through a university co-op program. After you successfully complete your internship you may apply for a salaried contract opportunity, which is 3-5 months long. If you successfully complete your contract you may be considered and or opt to stay on as a permanent employee in that position or apply for another open position for permanent employment or contracted project based work assignment.

Volunteer for Fit Life Foundation and understand what it means to have a true life impacting encounter. We welcome individuals, corportate sponsored volunteer groups and teams who want to make a difference in the lives of others.
Outcomes: Volunteers will be able to identify and interpret social research and other literature to enhance one'sunderstanding of human conditions and social services encountered in volunteerwork with Fit Life. As a Fit Life Volunteer you will realize your personal exploration of self in relationship to helping others.
In a Fit Life volunteer encounter you will acquire skills in relationship building and develop understanding of social work ethics, values and roles presented in our diverse society.
Fit Life Volunteers experience includes: FUN!! making a differnce through community leadership opportunities, orientation and specialized training for various volunteer projects.

IWI Learning Outcomes //
1. Interns’ will identify specific his/her skills related to his/her major area of study (i.e. exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition, public health, and or non-profit organization, etc.) to provide concepts, ideas, tools, and input necessary to design successful preventive health campaigns.
2. Interns’ will demonstrate mastery of basic project management six-step process from 1) assignment and 2) team building, 3) planning, 4) plan management, 5) assignment completion, and if time allows the 6) close of the project by applying these principals to develop, implement and evaluate two major preventive health campaigns.
3. Interns’ will be able to articulate cultural and socioeconomic differences impacted by health disparities across communities and the significance of these differences for preventive health planning as it pertains to child obesity.
4. Interns’ will be able to evaluate research critically and participate in the research community as it relates to child obesity.
5. Interns’ will be able to use technology platforms and social media effectively in related Fit Life outreach strategies, the delivery of Fit LIfe communicative instruction, Fit Life assessments, anddevelop their professional skills with impactful social media campaigns.
6. Interns’ will be able to evaluate the need for fitness interventions and preventive health campaigns in public health as it relates to promotional health, outreach, and other alternatives for impactful change in the communities Fit Life will serve.
